When you think of paradise, you think of the beginning of this book! While attending open house this year at my 10 year old sons school, he found this book for sale at the book fair. When you think of vacation, you think of paradise. Have been reading the Wimpy kid series in order ever since the first book came out, and this has become one series, the hard back of which I pre order, and read as soon as I can lay my hands upon. I find this whole series depressing. COLLECT - CONNECT - DISPLAY! and counting.But it’s finally time for readers to hear directly from Rowley in a journal of his own. My two oldest sons are night/day different about reading, at least for now. There is nothing there for me to LIKE, except Rowley. Second, anyone looking for profound wisdom will be disappointed. I guess, for Graham, it's just a bit too close to reality to be SO funny. First of all, this book is intended for slightly older readers--say, 9 and up. Jeff Kinney is an author of children's books including Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series. c: You're never too old for Diary of a Wimpy Kid. There are even five movies dedicated to Greg Heffley and his life as a wimpy kid. My brother and I are fans of the Diary of Wimpy Kid series, we have been collecting them all the way from the first book to this one :D If you read/collect some of them as well....you should notice that the books are getting thinner and thinner XD. So if he's no different at the end, why did I just spend a few hundred pages reading about him? And actually, he would have--except after one night of reading this out loud I discovered that the content was definitely not age appropriate (nor redeeming in any way, to my mind). .

The pressures really piling up on Greg Heffley. This "novel in cartoons" is a hilarious addition to the tween fiction section. The family goes on the vacation and is late to the airport and has a layover. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series has remained on the New York Times bestseller lists since the publication of the first book. To see what your friends thought of this book, It is really interesting, but kind of a little childish, Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #1), I got this book based on a quick skim in the store where I saw lots of funny line illustrations and large fonts that mimic handwriting. Although the tone was sarcastic, I thought that it would prove to be a good read-aloud for my 6 year old son, who still needs some enticement into stories.
This book doesn't tackle any issues, nor does it try to make the reader a better person; it's just fun. Protagonists aren't required to be likable, but they should have some noticeable character arc, and this kid just doesn't... he's the same waste of space at the end that he was at the beginning. Thanks for joining. Yeah, I know, these are kid's books but if one has read the first 11 and has a sophomoric sense of humor like mine, firmly based in a prepubescent lad's mindset then obviously one is going to grab this. Jeff Kinney is an obvious disciple of Matt Groening (not Simpsons-Groening, but rather Life-In-Hell-Groening).
When a respected children's librarian, however, reported her dislike of the series, I was puzzled. So wheres Greg Heffley? He blames everyone else for his problems; he doesn't care about anyone. :). We’d love your help. Every year as November rolls around I prepare myself for a guaranteed rip-roaringly funny, entertaining, light read, when the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book hits the shelves.
