I know this trail is considered fairly easy for many, but for someone just in town who's coming from sea level and not super fit, I found it challenging. Parking here is limited to several vehicals and is usually full, as of 2007 signs indicate the parking is for senior citizens and hut users only. Would recommend to anyone visiting Aspen! Apparently, there is another trailhead on Hunter Creek Rd, but not sure of parking. Either way this is a great hike right in Aspen. No picture can capture everything I was seeing. The Hunter Creek Trail leaves the open meadows of the valley floor and transitions into an old rocky road. Some post-hole spots in the meadow and on the cut-off near the lookout. To get to the trail, take the Hunter Creek bus from Rubey Park to the stop called "Hunter Creek." USGS 7.5 min. I highly recommend this hike. Areas that are slightly steep but not difficult. Start in the town of Aspen. Loved hearing the river, then valley views, then a great view of taking pictures and enjoying views. The simplest method is to walk back down the driveway to the Hunter Creek Road, turn left through two stone gate posts marked "Private," and follow the paved Hunter Creek Road 1/3 mile around a hairpin switchback to the well-signed Hunter Creek Trailhead on the right side of the road, just past the hairpin. Also, be aware that the first picture shown on AllTrails for this loop is NOT from this trail! no one else can enjoy. I was too tired to go look for the bridge...so mark the cutoff on the way up. Go right for .3 miles, then left up a hill into the Hunter Creek Trail parking … A quarter of a mile along you will find a steep left hand turn that takes you to the parking lot and the trailhead beyond.
