The road was no joke (heed the warning sings, they mean it) and the river and devils pot holes were fabulous. I had conquered Schofield Pass, and it remains one of my favorite four-wheeling memories. Parking is available in the town of Crystal, and 4WD-high clearance trucks can continue 2 miles (with a left at the fork) to the trailhead at 9700 feet. Tire placement becomes more difficult.
The Schofield Pass Road ends where it intersects with the Crystal City trail, at the eastern trailhead for Lead King Basin.
Hope for minimal oncoming traffic, I was lucky and only had to reverse the shelf road twice. Planning to do this in a few days from Marble to CB.
My friend with the white Land Cruiser had no sliders, so we stacked rocks on both uphill side and downhill side--with some finesse and spotting he made it over without scraping (2.5" suspension lift, 33" tires).
