I removed the original power supply and connected spare router ac/dc 12v adapter. (And yes it is plugged in);)I am running Windows 7 and it finds the drivers with no problem. ALmost always a driver oddity or something. Yeah, I could see it working out well. I like the dual stick setup - Plus if my Sidewinder does the unthinkable and gives out (think i got it in 95) I have a replacement on hand. JavaScript is disabled. Havent tried a HOTAS but I suspect the Dual joystick (atleast for this game) is better. Absolutely, you should buy a throttle if you don't have one.
Lotta complaints about them and they were only really in there as a "well, we want to be sure" measure. I've checked the original MSFF2 manual, which makes no mention whatsoever about the AC requirements/limitations and Googling has proven unfruitful too. I was. Anyway + rep for Sidewindersssss. Now that I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on my new computer, it won't install the original drivers.

I bought one from auction and only realised afterwards that the stick is from Japan (110v grid) and I live in a country with 220v grid electricity.
I've found them on ebay for anywhere from $35 - $80ish, could give that a shot!

I'd think you use one for lateral and vertical thrusters and the other for pitch and roll with a throttle set elsewhere, likely on a stick as most have a basic one. We reset this goal every new year for the following year's goal.
Im sure you guys are right - I haven't used a HOTAS myself. It varies by individual, I am sure. Does anyone know on here where I might be able to pick a cable up that would work correctly? If you don't power it, it will be very difficult to centre the joystick on the null points for roll and pitch. I remember because it stood out to me when I opened the box and when I used to transport it I would use the box to keep it from getting damaged and I would throw the non form fitting bag over it (which was just a protection from water damage). My FFB2 is still going strong after umpty-whiz years. That's literally my only slight complaint about the stick, it's extremely comfortable but I find the throttle a bit too sensitive sometimes given its range of motion, not to mention my forward and reverse thrusters (not main engine) aren't currently bound. ALmost always a driver oddity or something. Anyone think I should pull the trigger on an actual throttle? I use it pretty much like Nilt said plus I put the forward and reverse thrust on my left hat - also picked up a stinky footpad so have a few buttons for my feet.

Windows 7 will install generic drivers when the USB is plugged in but these do not allow me to program my Sidewinder. MS Force Feedback 2....green light flashing. Anyway + rep for Sidewindersssss. Just looked at mine and sure enough MS thought of everything - 100-240VAC. Havent tried a HOTAS but I suspect the Dual joystick (atleast for this game) is better.
