This 2015 film has Susan Sarandon and Rose Byrne playing mother and daughter. I would definitely watch this movie again it was that good! An aging widow from New York City follows her daughter to Los Angeles in hopes of starting a new life after her husband passes away. The film constantly walks on a tightrope with slapstick chuckles on one side, and acute melancholy on the other. Lori, is shown to make a pilot episode for a television channel, which she uses to tell her own story. Well, it is, sort of -- but it is more about recovering from the deep grief of losing someone very important to you.

It made me laugh to watch it, because I have 2 daughters myself, so I could very much relate to the push-pull in their mother/daughter relationship. You wanna meet her? Her husband’s death and a seemingly aloof daughter makes Marnie a philanthropist of sorts where she tries to help absolute strangers and tries to find some meaning to this grief, but in vain. Susan Sarandon is amazing, and the movie is worth watching just to see her performance -- but it is also wonderful on many levels in many ways. It is full of love and forgiveness and there is plenty of warmth and humor to balance out the sad parts, although I cried a lot. For a woman actor her age, with all of Hollywood’s asinine ageism, Sarandon has debunked those norms and shines in the film. Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2020. he's a policeman , who bails his friend out of jail. Lori finally admits to missing her dad and wishing for some decisions to be made for her. Both equally valid, and inching towards coping in some way. Marnie, by helping the old woman at the hospital with a dialing phone, finds the purpose to move on and seek happiness. Wish this had been out when my mother was alive. Unless the BMW dealership in Sherman Oaks paid for a product placement, there's no reason for them to have gone so far north.
Likable film that will make you laugh. Every time Marnie's driving in her car, she's listening to Beyonce. Vaishnavi Sundar is a writer and a self-taught filmmaker. 103 min The casting is very good and the leads really deliver in their roles.
