Back in March we held our World Book Day event and I recently swapped my voucher for one of the freebies that they had to offer. I finished the very short story rather unsatisfied. I don't feel like the book is a stand alone book. I did find this short story however from the series and fancied giving it a try. Refresh and try again. But as a standalone it does work, pretty much. Nought Forever explores how loyalty shifts as Eva discovers Dan, a young man injured and hiding, in her back garden. With just 53 pages, overall, it just felt incomplete and pointless. But at the same time you get more than enough to get at the basics of who they are and how maybe they’re lives have been. A nice little taster and reminder of Malorie Blackman's Noughts & Crosses world before the release of Crossfire this summer! You get the idea behind the alternative British society pretty quickly and know who the Noughts and the Crosses are, societally speaking. I remember reading Noughts and Crosses when I was in high school and to be honest, not really enjoying it very much. Malorie Blackman has written over sixty books for children and young adults.
