This is a great all day hike in which you will climb two 14ers, Mount Bierstadt and Mount Evans. Great trail but a lot of rock climbing. It’s a quick 0.17 miles long one-way climb to the 14,265 foot summit of Mount Evans from the end of Mount Evans Road. It was very challenging as these were my 2nd and 3rd 14ers, the sawtooth was a daunting experience that I’m glad to have under my belt. Mt.
Less crowded than anticipated for a weekend morning. Ascends very quickly from the start and gets very rocky towards the end. I rated this trail as 2 stars because the trail isn’t marked very well during the sawtooth and Evans (especially the decent).
I don’t think it’s fair to make fun of people if they don’t want to do the actual hike. Drove out from Denver to watch the sunrise. Mount Spaulding and Mount Evans via Summit Lake - Standard Route is a 5.3 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Idaho Springs, Colorado that features a lake and is rated as difficult.
